Best booking apps for barbers in 2026

30th Oct, 2026

The best booking app for barbers is the one that fills your chair without taking a cut of it. Five are worth your time in 2026 — Booksy, Fresha, Goldie, Barbr and bbook — plus Squire if you run a bigger shop, and they split into two camps: marketplaces that send you new clients and charge a commission on each one, and booking systems you run under your own name for a flat price.

This is for a solo barber or a shop with two to five chairs. Prices below were checked on each company’s own pricing page on October 24, 2026, in the currency that page showed us. Nearly all of these tools price by country, so check the page for your own market before you commit.

The five, side by side

App Price (checked Oct 24, 2026) Fee on new clients Reminders Free plan
Booksy $29.99 / month + tax, $20 per extra staff member 30% of the first visit through Boost, capped at $100 2,000 marketing SMS included No, 14-day trial
Fresha €14.95 / month solo, or €9.95 per bookable team member 20% of the first visit, minimum €5 20 texts or WhatsApps a month, then €0.12 each No, 7-day trial
Goldie Free, then $19.99 / month ($199.99 / year) or $39.99 / month None 500 SMS credits a month on Pro, 750 on Pro Plus Yes, 20 appointments a month
Barbr £20, £30 or £40 / month, plus £10 per extra barber None SMS reminders on every plan No, 14-day trial
bbook Free, then per user a month, billed yearly or monthly, in your own currency (current prices) None Email on every plan, SMS and WhatsApp on Premium Yes, 1 user, 30 appointments a month

Three things to check before the feature list

What it costs when a new client books. Booksy and Fresha are marketplaces. Their apps have people in them looking for a barber tonight, and when one of those people books you, Booksy takes 30% of that first cut and Fresha takes 20%. It is charged once per client, not forever. If your chair is already full of regulars, you are paying for people who would have walked in anyway.

Whether reminders are metered. A barber doing 120 cuts a month sends 120 reminders. On Fresha, 20 are free and the rest cost €0.12 each, about €12 a month on top of the plan. Booksy and Barbr include them. This line is often bigger than the price gap between plans.

Where the client ends up. With a marketplace, your client installs someone else’s app and sees other shops in it. With a booking system you send your own link — Instagram bio, Google listing, a text — and the client books in two taps.

Booksy

The strongest marketplace for barbers in US and UK cities, and the one your clients are most likely to already have on their phone. One plan, everything in it, $29.99 a month plus $20 for each extra chair. Reminders and 2,000 marketing texts are included, which is generous. The catch is Boost: 30% of every new client’s first visit, easy to leave switched on long after it has stopped paying for itself. Full breakdown in Booksy pricing and fees explained.

Fresha

Cheaper than Booksy at €14.95 for a solo barber, and the €9.95 per-head Team price makes it the cheapest subscription here for a three-chair shop. Two catches. Reminders are metered after the first 20 a month. And you cannot take the marketplace off: Fresha’s help centre says unlisting your profile disables all your online booking channels, so if you want online booking you are listed and the 20% new-client fee applies. More on the Fresha alternative page.

Goldie

The appointment book for a barber who wants an app on their phone and nothing else to think about. Free Starter covers 20 appointments a month, Pro is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year with 500 SMS credits, Pro Plus $39.99. No commission on anything. It is built for one person: if you are hiring, you will outgrow how it handles staff. See the Goldie (Appointfix) alternative page.

Barbr

A UK app built for barbers only, which shows in the details — no-show protection, waiting lists, recurring bookings for the every-three-weeks client. Core is £20 a month, Pro £30 with a website, Max £40 with your own branded app, and extra barbers are £10 each. No commission. It is the right shape for a UK shop and a harder sell if you are outside the UK.

Squire

Squire is the barbershop-only platform that sits at the top of Google for most of these searches, aimed at bigger, busier shops: payroll, chair rent, POS, the whole back office. Worth a demo if you have six chairs and staff to pay. We could not read its pricing page on October 24, 2026, so we are not quoting a number — ask for a quote and compare it against the per-chair prices above.

How bbook compares

bbook is the booking system side of that split. Clients book from your own link with no account to create and no marketplace in between, and there is no commission on bookings or on new clients, ever. The free plan covers one user and 30 appointments a month, so a solo barber can run on it; paid plans are priced per user a month, billed yearly or monthly, with current prices in your own currency on the pricing page.

Reminders go out by email on every plan, and by SMS and WhatsApp on Business Premium, which also includes the optional AI receptionist — it answers the calls you miss mid-fade and books while you keep cutting. Payments and deposits run through Stripe, Mollie or SumUp at their published rates.

The honest version: if you need strangers walking in off an app, pay a marketplace for it and switch it off once you are full. Otherwise a flat-price system costs less every month you stay.

FAQ

What is the best booking app for barbers?

For a solo barber, a flat-price system with a free tier — bbook or Goldie — costs least, because nothing comes out of each booking. For a new shop that needs walk-in volume, Booksy or Fresha will send you clients, at 30% and 20% of a first visit.

Is there a free booking app for barbers?

Yes. bbook is free for one user and 30 appointments a month, and Goldie’s Starter plan is free for 20 appointments a month. Booksy, Fresha and Barbr have trials only: 14, 7 and 14 days.

Do barbers need an app clients have to download?

No. On Booksy and Fresha, clients usually book inside the company’s app or marketplace page. With bbook, Goldie or Barbr, you send your own booking link and the client books in a browser, with no account and no download.
